  Estimated Duration:
Name of Organization:    HCL Infosystem Ltd. (CDC)
Address of Organization:   HCL INFOSYSTEM LTD. (HCL learning division)
                                                Ind. Area, Phase-8, MOHALI (PUNJAB)
External Supervisor Name:  Mr. Dilber Khan
  External Supervisor Designation: Networking Administrator
  External Supervisor Phone No.:   99145-50702

 Nature of Project:
My Project includes the concepts and configuration of Local Area Networks (LANS), Switching, Wide Area Networking (WAN), and Router Technologies. In my project I used the “Cisco packet tracer” software, windows XP, windows server 2003. I also used the hardware during practice i.e router, switch, hub. I also used crimple tools, connectors and cable wires to make straight and cross cable wires. I used NAT Technology in my project.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
In my project I made a network using router which acts as an equipment between local network and the internet. In this I made virtual LAN’s in a network and uses network address translation to make more different ip addresses from one private ip to make a local area network. I also apply access control list in my project to deny some features or services to local area network.
The project includes:
Ø  Introduction to networking
Ø  IP addressing
Ø  Subnetting
Ø   Dynamic Routing
Ø  Routing protocols:
                    RIP
                      IGRP
                    EIGRP
                    OSPF
Ø  Inter Virtual LAN Routing
Ø  Access Control List
Ø  Network Address Translation (NAT),
Ø  Cisco Wireless Technologies,
Ø  Wide Area Networks Technologies
Ø  Wi-fi Network
Ø  VOIP Network(IP Phones)

 Work Left:
Ø Using MCSE Technology:
§  Make domain model
§  Software development company network and provide email id to every user
§  Launch personal web using IIS
§  Exchange server (Email server)
§  DHCP server
§  DNS server

Scope of the Project: In today’s word networking is most necessary but everyone wants a secured network In this project I used NAT which provide us a fully secured LAN network. Security is much more difficult in Wireless network, this project can control the user of wireless network and make a secure wireless network. In this project, we  replace a router with a pc. In this project ACL used which provide us the service to deny any service from the network.

Today we start from the basics of networking
internet is an example of networking
definition of networking
When we connecting two or more device which each other then it call networking.

5 basic modes of router

Router>                           User mode
Router# Enable Mode
Router(config)#                  Configure terminal
Router(config-if)# interface mode
Router(config-line)#            line mode

Flexibility Schema Operations Master (FSMO) Roles in 2008 Server

As we are all aware that certain tasks needs to be performed by single one, so as far AD 2008 goes some tasks are performed by single domain controller and they jointly called as FSMO roles.
There are five roles:
They are further classified in two

1. Forest Roles

  • Schema Master - As name suggests, the changes that are made while creation of any object in AD or changes in attributes will be made by single domain controller and then it will be replicated to another domain controllers that are present in your environment. There is no corruption of AD schema if all the domain controllers try to make changes. This is one of the very important roles in FSMO roles infrastructure.
  • Domain Naming Master - This role is not used very often, only when you add/remove any domain controllers. This role ensures that there is a unique name of domain controllers in environment.

2. Domain Roles

  • Infrastructure Master - This role checks domain for changes to any objects. If any changes are found then it will replicate to another domain controller.
  • RID Master - This role is responsible for making sure each security principle has a different identifier.
  • PDC emulator - This role is responsible for Account policies such as client password changes and time synchronization in the domain
